Rulindo: Umurenge Sacco to begin paying employees by 2013
After three years of acquiring support from government in terms of paying employees, local banks otherwise known as Umurenge SACCO will begin paying their own employees.
The development was revealed by a group of MPs from the parliamentary committee on Trade and Economy who paid a visit to the Masoro sector SACCO in Rulindo district of the Northern Province.
According to MP Emmanuel Mudidi, who was leading the group, the government considers these banks to have gained the muscle to cover their own costs. Government has been paying salaries of employees in the SACCOs since they were established as a subsidy to help them gain ground. The year 2013 has been set as the deadline for them to start paying their employees.
The members of Masoro SACCO told the visiting MP delegation that they had reached a good level and will be able to cater for their own costs come 2013.
At this, MP also urged the Masoro SACCO management to work hard and increase the number of members.
The entourage also visited other cooperatives in the district like Ntugasaze, Kaprocyu, Koopama and others whom he thanked for the good work they are doing especially in the areas of land consolidation.
