Rwanda: Burera Residents urged to start saving
“Saving culture is one of the most key issues that every individual must note In order to prepare for the good future of the residents” Kabiligi Jean Marie Vianney in charge of good governance in Burera district described to the people on 5th January 2012 during an event to officially start the good governance week in the district.
However, saving changes as years go by. “Long ago people saved by putting their produce in the granary but today, you go to the nearest banks like Sacco and others” he added.
It was also learned that most residents do not know the importance of having a bank saving account whereby they keep money in their homes and misuse it or get robbed.
Kabiligi, a resident said it’s good to save so as to solve future problems. “If you have three children and keep saving, that money will help your children in different things especially studies”. He acknowledged.
It was then suggested to residents that they should seek help from financial institutions for their social and economic development. Also, they should participate in “Hanga Umurimo” program initiated by ministry of trade and industry for supporting individuals with projects.
